Butterworth provides high-accuracy oxygen analysis for pharmaceutical production, medical gases and industrial gases using the advanced Servomex MultiExact 4100 analyser. We conduct Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) testing of oxygen purity up to 99.999% and measure trace oxygen impurities down to 1 ppm in other gases, supporting compliance with European Pharmacopoeia (Ph.Eur.) and United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) specifications. Our analytical services also support a wide range of other industries, including aerospace life support, semiconductor manufacturing and industrial gases, with testing tailored to individual client requirements.
The analytical instrumentation utilises two different sensor technologies, selected according to the required level of sensitivit
Paramagnetic sensor
Oxygen purity is measured using a highly selective paramagnetic sensor. Because oxygen is naturally attracted to a magnetic field, the instrument provides extremely accurate measurement of oxygen concentrations up to high-purity grades
Zirconia sensor
Trace oxygen is measured using a heated zirconium oxide sensor. This electrochemical technology provides sensitive detection of oxygen impurities at ppm levels in a wide range of gas mixtures.
