Since we validated our Agilent 7700x ICP-MS last year, to confirm it meets the requirements of the new USP Monograph <233> for Elemental Impurities, we have seen a significant increase in the demand for this technique. To meet this increase, we recently commissioned a second Microwave Digester, a CEM Discover SP-D, which can hold up to 48 samples at a time whilst its robotic arm transfers each vessel in turn into the microwave well taking approximately 15 minutes per sample for each digestion cycle.
In addition to ensure we have sufficient capacity for future workloads, and to provide instrument back-up at times of servicing etc, we will be purchasing a further ICP-MS while a second ICP-OES is also under consideration.
