In April, one of our in-house ICP-MS experts, Soňa Brázdová, gave a presentation at the Agilent Atomic Spectroscopy Users Meeting on the use of ICP-MS for the determination of Elemental Impurities in line with the new USP Chapters and .
The presentation highlighted the advantages of the new monographs, incorporating ICP analysis over the previous monograph, the Heavy Metals Colorimetric Test. After an overview of the new limits based on Toxicology data and some information on preparation techniques, Soňa then presented data from three case studies.
The presentation concluded with a look at future developments of our ICP-MS services at Butterworth where we have just ordered an Agilent ICP-QQQ (or ICP-MS-MS) as part of our current laboratory expansion work. This new instrument will provide our laboratories with an extended range of analysis along with additional capacity.
